Technologies at Henley Beach Primary School
At Henley Beach Primary School, our Technologies program empowers students with the skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-evolving digital world. The curriculum is designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, equipping our students with the essential digital and design skills they need for success now and in the future.

Digital Technologies
All students from Reception to Year 6 participate in dynamic Digital Technologies lessons led by a specialist teacher. Our implementation of the South Australian Curriculum builds the necessary skills knowledge and capabilities by engaging, hands-on activities tailored to suit our students’ interests and learning needs.

From Year 2 upwards, we incorporate a sustainability focus through a paperless environment using Microsoft Teams for all work submissions, note taking, and assessments. This fosters digital literacy, organisational skills, and responsible online collaboration from an early age. Students regularly use features such as Microsoft Reflect to build wellbeing and positive classroom culture.
Our program is enriched by access to cutting-edge digital tools. Students explore coding and robotics using Blue-Bots and Spheros in junior years, advancing to Micro:bits and Makey Makey in upper primary. With a dedicated computer lab, a class set of iPads for early learners, and a 3D printer, students are encouraged to create, innovate, and solve real-world problems.

Design and Technologies
Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 students engage in exciting hands-on projects in Design and Technologies, developing foundational skills in design thinking and creativity. As students’ progress into middle and upper primary years, their classroom teachers build upon this learning, integrating projects that encourage teamwork, practical problem-solving, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Extra Curricula Learning
Henley Beach Primary also offers enriching opportunities beyond the regular curriculum. Each year, we run a popular after-school Code Club in Term 3, where budding coders extend their skills, creativity, and collaboration in a supportive environment.
