School Canteen

The Henley Beach Primary School canteen follows the Right Bite policy that promotes healthy eating. Our menu is informed by the Department for Education’s ‘traffic light’ system which classifies food according to its nutritional value. Our menu, which is mostly made by canteen staff, is predominantly green with the occasional item classed as amber.

The canteen is open at recess and lunch, every school day. Lunch orders can be ordered on the Qkr app. This is the canteen’s preferred method, however, cash orders (written on lunch bags) are accepted. The student’s name, year and class teacher must be clearly written on a lunch bag which are available from the front office. These types of orders need to be handed into the front office prior to the first lesson of the day. Recess items can be bought by students over the counter at recess. Please note, recess items can be ordered for lunch, which will then be delivered to class, along with lunch orders, at eating time.

Volunteer help is always welcome in the canteen. If you are interested, please use the Signup link below. All volunteers are required to have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance and complete an online Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN-EC) course and canteen induction.

QkR (pronounced ‘quicker’) is a free mobile application that enables mobile payments for school-based accounts. QkR allows parents and carers of students at HBPS to use their smartphones to place canteen orders, pay for OSHC, or make uniform and excursion payments, saving time and alleviating the hassle of having to give your child money to carry to school.

Our office will receive daily detailed reports on all payments, and orders placed are filled accordingly. The application utilises MasterCard Technology to ensure the safety of all information, and allows you to pay with any scheme credit, debit, or pre-paid card accepted by the school.

As time progresses, HBPS will be expanding the items available on QkR. For those without access to a smartphone, a web-based version of QkR will be available in the coming months.

For those who may need some extra guidence and help with the setting up of your QkR account and understanding its features, please utilise the Tip Sheets.

When you’re ready to connect to the HBPS QkR service, please follow the instructions on our Launch Flyer below. If you have the app already installed, scan the HBPS QR Code to connect to our school.
