School Opportunities
Library
Our school library offers a number of designated learning areas and has a wide variety of books catering for a range of reading abilities and interests. Children attend weekly library borrowing sessions with their teacher.
Playground Equipment
Children of all years have access to our extensive collection of playground equipment, as well as our large oval areas and asphalt courts. With no year level boundaries, Henley Beach Primary allows interaction between students of all year levels, allowing students to actively engage, support, and care for one another during play. The range of facilities, which has been designed to cater for all children including students with disability, provides many opportunities for climbing and balancing as well as imaginative play.
School Canteen
The Canteen is open Monday – Friday for recess and lunch. Ordering lunches can be done via the Qkr. Occasionally, special lunches are offered and advertised ahead of time in the school newsletter.
Sports Facilities
The large school ovals provide our students with an excellent area to participate in a variety of ball games and free play activities. Beyond the school ovals, we also have a variety of different asphalt areas, including netball and basketball courts, and a multiple handball courts. Our school gym is equipped with soft impact flooring which accommodates a full size basketball court, and also provides room for multiple volleyball and badminton courts too.
Vegetable Garden
Our vegetable garden offers students the opportunity to learn about the cycle of food production and how it plays a vital role in their over-all wellbeing, inspiring them to get outside and be involved. The school’s Grub Club volunteers provide students of all ages access to a range of special projects and activities that allow them to grow plants and maintain their garden patch.
Wellbeing Room
At Henley Beach Primary School, we recognise the individual needs of our students. At times, students may need opportunities to regulate in an alternative space. In consultation with Occupational Therapists from the Self Regulation Service, we have set up a Wellbeing Room at school. This space is accessed by students across all year levels for self-regulation supervised by an adult, co-regulation with an adult, social and emotional wellbeing groups, proactive breaks and lunchtime clubs. This room incorporates a range of areas, activities and items to cater for sensory experiences and to support a diverse range of sensory preferences.
We have partnered with the Self Regulation Service from 2023-2025 to support student Wellbeing at Henley Beach.
